Raised Beds

We started off with the intention of doing No Dig gardening. We bought the cardboard and laid it out, but it became apparent that this would not work due to the soil not being great and the unlevel site. We decided to do raised beds because they allowed us to bypass the poor existing soil entirely by creating our own perfect, nutrient-rich growing environment. They also gave us a brilliant way to level out our sloping plot, creating neat, structured terraces that keep our precious pink crops safely contained and easy to manage.

We painted the raised beds pink! We put the cardboard at the bottom on the soil and planted a mixture of compost, topsoil, and grit into each raised bed to ensure that there was a good foundation for our crops to thrive. The blend creates the perfect balance: the compost provides a rich buffet of nutrients, the topsoil gives excellent structure, and the grit ensures superb drainage so our plants never get waterlogged roots. It’s the ultimate cozy, nourishing home for all our upcoming pink varieties!

The pink theme continues with absolutely everything on our allotment! We have pink watering cans, pink tools, pink nets, and even a pink wheelbarrow. It has turned our plot into a joyful, eye-catching sanctuary that always brings a smile to our faces—and definitely gets the neighbors talking. Every time we step onto the plot, the pink makes your day bright even on a dark day.
